Couldn't resist putting up one more picture of Thorin's bracers, because I liked the backdrop on this so much. There's a creek out behind my apartment, surrounded by trees with yellow leaves and these weird things that look like olives, idek. California, right?

Mmm, not sure how noob you're talking about, but I wrote a tutorial on making leather handcuffs (funny story! before The Hobbit, bondage gear was where I made most of my money) that has some basics of leatherworking: [link]

I was thinking it was a strange time of year for olives.

But, I have to say that the bracers are awesome. I really like tho color of the leather and the very angular designs.

I have no idea what they are. o_O In that light they look more like... oblong blueberries. One of my boyfriends is a botanist, I'll ask him if I remember.

I *love* the design aesthetic they have going for the dwarves. If you look at all the costumes, no one's wearing the same patterns as anyone else, but there's definitely a consistency to them, so that everyone is clearly part of the same culture. Also, very neat-looking. :D

I agree. I think that weta really nailed (most) the dwarfs for the movies.
