What's better than a Kili cosplay? KILI & FILI COSPLAY!
Finally got some pictures taken, so they'll be going up in my shop as soon as I figure out what range the small vs large sizes will be, probably later tonight. (Right now it is HAMMER TIME, that is, between the hours of noon and 5 pm, when I can hammer away without my downstairs neighbors coming up and shanking me. 家に住んでいたらいいんだな…)
And I too Fenris -- my first foray into costume making was actually the endgame mage armor from DA2, and if I were built anything like Fenris I'd want to try my hand at his too.
If you want to teach yourself how to make them, I will answer any questions. I can sympathize a lot with wanting something but not having the money to buy it.
You really would? Well, I wanted to do something much simpler, because I can only hardly imagine the amount of work and patience is in those bracers. I can only say I've never done anything like this before, only a little bracelet of leather strings... So do you need any special equipment to work with leather? Hod do you do those engravings? Do you cut them or push them? What kind of leather shoudl one get? I understand if you won't answer some of those, bussiness secret and such. But still thanks for even showing us your awesome work!
Hah, well this isn't quite the project you were looking for, but I wrote a tutorial a while back about how to make leather handcuffs, and that's got some information about the basics of leatherworking: [link]
Leather tooling uses a swivel knife to cut the basic outlines of a pattern, and then stamping tools that are applied with a hammer to add detail. I haven't written any how-to guides on that because enough people on youtube and other places have that covered, in far greater detail than I would do.
I. need. those. ... Those and the Kili ones. I'm not cosplaying, tho. But they would look awesome with my viking coat. ... well, gotta start saving up :>
That's the cool thing about the clothes from Peter Jackson's movies -- they look authentic, like something that people would have actually worn, instead of looking like costumes. (With the exception of elves, maybe. )
And I too
You are very skilled. Congratuations!
